Tracey Quinn, a contemporary Irish landscape painter, grew up in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, and graduated with an honours degree from Leicester School of Fine Art, England.
She lives and works in Dublin. 'Landscape is difficult to define. It is colour and atmosphere, split seconds and aeons, skies, seas, land and spheres. In my work I try to capture the essential form and quality of these places. I have always felt a strong response to the Irish landscape, or more importantly the constantly evolving Irish light and its dramatic presence in the ever changing skies that describe this land in a kaleidoscope of colour. My work is not a literal translation but a creation of mood and a sensory impression of light and time touching the land form, illuminating distant fields. The simplification of forms and use of loose brushwork with thin layers of oil paint on canvas, embodies the air and atmosphere of the landscapes which inspire me.' |
